Feeding Journeys

Feeding is another common worry for new parents, which can affect mothers and fathers quite differently. For mothers, there can be uncertainty about how feeding will work out, and how demanding or exhausting it will be. For some fathers, being relegated to the support act as mother nurses the baby can be difficult. As babies grow, feeding remains a daily challenge, but concerns shift toward fussy eating, changing appetites, and the unpredictability of children's needs. He's not a big eater, that's for sure. Still, he's never been a big eater we've always struggled with getting him to eat anything really, except fruit, he loves fruit. So loads of fruit and then nothing else, which is why he's such a skinny little baby, 'cause he doesn't like it, and milk was a struggle it's always been a struggle, and I tried putting some chocolate Nesquik in it just sort of laced it with it, but it didn't work. Because I grew up on chocolate milk, 'cause my mum didn't, I didn't like my milk so she, I literally had chocolate milk, only chocolate milk and it was very chocolatey very brown, so yeah that's why I like sweet stuff.

Learning to Let Go

He's challenging when it comes to food, he's very very unpredictable. Uh he can like one thing one day and then just totally discard it the next day. So that, that's been quite challenging for us, but I think we've learnt a lot about relieving the stress from the whole situation, for ourselves as well. So, for ourselves it's not a big deal if he doesn't eat a lot at one meal, because we know he'll catch up at the next one, and, he doesn't seem to suffer from being, not as had as much to eat as he could have.
